Geithner wants to leave Treasury After Debt Debate Deal | Politisite

No Deal Just leave!

Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner has signaled to White House officials that he’s considering leaving the administration after President Barack Obama reaches an agreement with Congress to raise the national debt limit, according to three people familiar with the matter.

Geithner hasn’t made a final decision and won’t do so until the debt ceiling issue has been resolved, according to one of the people. All spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private discussions.

The Treasury secretary has said the U.S. risks defaulting on its obligations if Congress doesn’t raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling by Aug. 2. The administration and congressional Republicans are at an impasse in negotiations to raise the limit, which also is tied to efforts to cut the nation’s long- term deficit.

Moody’s Investors Service said on June 2 it expects to place the U.S. government’s Aaa credit rating under review for a possible downgrade if there’s no progress on the debt limit by mid-July. Fitch Ratings said June 21 it would place the U.S. on a negative rating watch if no action is taken by Aug. 2.

Geithner on the Way Out?

Anybody who suggested raising taxes on small business so the bloated government doesn’t have to shrink in size can’t get out the door fast enough.

No word yet on where Geithner might end up, but some of Obama’s economic team have instinctively returned to the university scene, which is the only place where their theories actually work.

Are you focused on Weiner or 2012?

Editors Note By Albert N. Milliron

Congressman Anthony Weiner was a Democratic rock star not unlike the Young Bill Clinton or Barack Obama.  He was sure to be a shoe in for Mayor of New York City and even had some folks looking at him as a Democratic version of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

All that changed in a Flash, literally a flash of a camera that posted a view for all to see of a portion of a Congressman most are not interested in seeing.

Werner had a way with making proposed government cuts by Republicans look comical and ineffectual.  He often took to the floor and made fun of the GOP attempts to kill NPR’s Care Talk or sacrificing Big Bird.  He was fun to watch, even if you sat o the other side of the issues.

Maybe that is the reason right-wing blogs and commentators took so much joy watching him come down as news of his Twitter Sexting, phone sex, and chatting up a porn star came to light over the weekend.

Having a last name like ‘Weiner’ where the best fun off all, as those of us liked to use word play had a field day.  Political Pundits became political punsters and the hits just kept on coming.

But when it was all over, and the fun turned into the realization that Weiner is a Congressman representing the people of New York.  T became clear that he is just another politician to add to the list, both Democrat and Republican, that have failed the American people in fixing the problems that are the most important to Americans  in 2011:  The Economy, Jobs, the National Debt, failing Infrastructure, the role of Government, Education, Taxes, Entitlement programs and National Defense.

While Weiner was Sexting, Our Government is failing.  But what we did for a weekend was focus on the failing of a Congressman.  Maybe Weiner helped us in a way, like going to a movie when the world is falling apart outside the theater.

For whatever reason, it is time to return to what is important.  Whether Anthony Weiner should resign is not the question the Collective should be asking, that is for the people in the Ethics committee and the people in his district in New York. What we should be looking for is answers on our growing national debt, unemployment, etc.

I am reminded that all of us have personal failings, and it is always easier to point at the failings of others, but when it is all said and done, we must all look in the mirror and account for our own missteps.

It is time to get back on the road that leads to the recovery of America.  It is easy to focus on Congressman Weiner, but by doing so like peering through a pair of Binoculars, it defocuses on other things, things we need to be focused on like a laser beam.  That area of focus should be the 2012 Election.

Gas price outrage over Obama’s Energy Policies, No? Lets compare Gas Prices under Bush

Anyone remember all the outrage when gas prices increased during the Bush Presidency?  You know, George Bush the Oil man is pocketing the profits, Bush is allowing prices to increase for his big oil supporters.  The attacks went on.

Now that we have a Democratic president, those attacks are not in the mainstream news on a daily basis , why?  Today oil prices are the result of “world events”.

Once should keep in mind that under President Obama, domestic drilling is at a standstill and we have become more dependent, not less,  on foreign oil due to the rig shutdowns in the Gulf and the bureaucratic process to get contracts to begin new exploration.  The Obama Administration has even refused or renew existing production on coal and other natural resources.

The Obama Administrations strategy is to limit natural resource exploration and production thus forcing inventors and research facilities to develop new clean technology.  So far that policy has been a dismal failure.  Anyone buy a $40,000  Chevy Volt?

Obama loses cool at Boxer Rally, gays take the gloves off

Obama loses cool with gay rights hecklers in L.A.

President Obama is used to hearing his name yelled angrily at conservative Tea Party protests. On Monday night, however, he faced hecklers at a more unlikely venue: a Democratic fundraiser in Los Angeles for California Sen. Barbara Boxer.

And yes, the hecklers were attacking the president from the left. “Repeal ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’!” the protesters yelled, referring to the 1993 military policy that bans gays and lesbians from openly serving. Obama responded, “We are going to do that; hey, hold on a second, hold on a second.”

The rest of the crowd then began chanting Obama’s signature campaign chant: “Yes we can! Yes we can! Yes we can!” You can watch the outburst — and Obama’s replies — here:

During the 2008 campaign, Obama repeatedly pledged to kill the controversial policy, and in January’s State of the Union address, he reiterated that vow. But progress has been slow. The administration claims that’s because a full repeal would require a separate bill in Congress repudiating the congressionally approved 1993 law — and it’s been hard to work such a bill into an already overcrowded Capitol Hill agenda. In March, the Pentagon announced it was relaxing enforcement of the ban, to clear the path for eventual repeal.

Obama returned to the issue of repeal in his Monday speech. “When you’ve got an ally like Barbara Boxer and you’ve got an ally like me who are standing for the same thing, then you don’t know exactly why you’ve got to holler, because we already hear you, all right,” Obama remarked to applause. “I mean, it would have made more sense to holler that at the people who oppose it.”

But the hollering didn’t let up. “It’s time for equality for all Americans,” shouted one. Obama again stressed his opposition to the ban, and again said, “I don’t know why you’re hollering.” The group broke into another “Yes we can!” chant.
