Filmmakers Call on RNC to “Free Raffi Williams!”

GOP’s Minority and Youth Gaps Not Being Publicly Addressed or Solved

Trenton, NJ – July 30, 2013–Fear Of A Black Republican filmmakers, Kevin and Tamara Williams urge the Republican National Committee to free its Deputy Press Secretary in charge of communications outreach to African American and young voters. Raffi Williams (no relation to the two Filmmakers) was hired by the Republican National Committee earlier this year and charged with improving the Republican Party’s relationship with African American and other minorities.

raffiwilliamsSince that time, the RNC also hired other employees for its highly-publicized $10 million Growth & Opportunity campaign to make the Party more attractive to voters who look like the changing face of a diverse America. However, as the head of the minority outreach, Raffi Williams has made few national television media appearances and did not attend the annual NAACP Convention nor publicly speak to the assembled Urban League Convention held last week.Filmmaker Kevin Williams said, “Earlier this year, the Republican National Committee committed to spending $10,000,000 on outreach to minority groups but we’ve seen no real action. Instead, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus is back to the same passive routines, ignoring new voters and traveling to Iowa to prepare for the 2016 Presidential Campaign and the 2014 mid-term elections. If our Chairman won’t speak to African Americans in a public forum, why not let Raffi Williams?”

In January 2013, before the RNC’s Winter Meeting, Kevin and Tamara Williams asked the RNC to get serious about engaging minorities. “Soon the National Association of Black Journalists and National Association of Hispanic Journalists will be holding their annual conventions. Will the RNC blow off these important minority gatherings? Again, we call upon the RNC to lead from the front and send our Party’s Chairman or a qualified representative like Raffi Williams to speak to the Convention body and then meet with the journalists attending both Conventions,” said the filmmakers.

Producer Tamara Williams said, “With unemployment being as bad as it is for African Americans and minorities in cities like Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles and Trenton… it is inconceivable why the Republican Party would not forcefully take its message to as many people as possible.” Co-Producer, Kevin Williams, went further, “The clock is running on the RNC to do what they’ve been promising for six months to start earning the black, minority and youth votes. The RNC hired Raffi Williams to play a high-profile role, yet most of our country has never heard of him. Raffi and others were hired to bring the Party of Lincoln back to its roots of inclusion. Our message is simple… Free Raffi Williams!”

The Filmmakers also stated that they are issuing this call without Raffi Williams’ assent, knowledge or request. Producer Tamara Williams stated, “No one may have asked the RNC to attend African American-centric conferences, but the RNC should make every effort to show up at these events. During the RNC Summer Meeting next month in Boston, RNC staff should be publicly meeting with minorities in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood to show they are serious about inclusion and preparing our Party for the future America to come.”

Get ready for the first GOP “Midnight Vote” on Patriot Act Extention Bill

Republicans will tell you that the 2010 election was a referendum on the Democrats and they way they pushed through bills in the House and Senate like a Freight train.  The GOP complained that the Democrats pushed bills with little debate, no allowance for Amendments, and late night votes.

This same party, who said they would restore the process to the people are now going to push through the Patriot Act Extensions bill in much the same way as they had complained about the Pelosi run House.

The Bill will have one hour of debate, no amendments, and will be voted on late in the evening when less eyes are on CSPAN.

I know, the Patriot Act sounds so Patriotic.  Let me help you out a bit, whatever a bill is titled, you can count on it being quite the opposite.  Anyone remember the “Jobs” Bill?

This from The Hill

House Republicans are poised to pass an extension of the Patriot Act on Monday evening after a procedural snafu sent the measure down to defeat last week.

Republicans will meet at noon and begin debate at 2 p.m. on an extension of Patriot Act surveillance. A vote on the extension is expected Monday evening.

The measure was defeated last week when Republican leadership attempted to force it through on a fast-track procedure that required a two-thirds majority. Monday evening’s vote will require only a simply majority and is almost certain to pass.

S.C. State Senator Calls Gov. candidate Nikki Haley racial Slur | NowPublic News Coverage

Just one day after Gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley was accused of having a one night stand with another campaigns political operative,  South Carolina politics is the state that keeps on giving to late night comedic talk shows.

Today, during a local Podcast called PubPolitics, State Senator Jake Knotts appeared on the program unannounced and went into a racial tirade.  Knotts said (paraphrasing here) that we have one RagHead in the White House and didn’t need a Raghead (referring to Haley who is Indian American) in the State House.

The Term Raghead is a racial/Ethnic slur like unto calling a Black person the “N” Word.

Knotts is well known to be anti-Sanford, Anti-Haley but to use racial epitaphs are an all time low for anyone in political Office.
Politisite went back to the site that hosts Pub Politics to down load the video for review.  Just minutes after the program ended, the video was gone.
Wesley Donehue came out with a quick disclaimer on Twitter and said that the Views of guests on PubPolitics are not the views of Wesley Donahue or Phil Bailey who host the show.
The Program stated that there was technical difficulties with the program, thus the reason it was removed.  We think otherwise
CNN Reports: Donehue told CNN the video was not removed from the web, and will be posted online Friday.

Haley’s  spokesman Tim Pearson said:

“Jake Knotts represents all that is wrong with South Carolina politics. He’s an embarrassment to our state and to the Republican Party. South Carolina is so much better than this, and the people of our state will make that quite clear next Tuesday.”

Boycott Arizona? 82% of Americans say No

Despite President Obama’s claim that he sees no congressional appetite to address immigration reform this midterm election year, there’s more convincing evidence this week that Americans want it.

No White House administration wants to admit that it governs by polls. And this one hasn’t. For more than a year now polls have shown the top concerns on American minds are….

…jobs and the economy. As a result, this Obama White House and the whopping Democratic congressional majorities lead by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi invested those many months in rancorous intra-party debate to obtain broad healthcare legislation.

But pollsters keep asking the other questions:

Out Wednesday is a new CNN/Public Opinion poll indicating that even more Americans want:

— The number of illegal immigrants decreased (76%, up from 73%).

— Illegal immigrants removed from the country (41%, up from 37%).

— To halt the influx of illegal immigrants and deport those here (60%).

— To assign more federal agents to security on the Mexico border (88%).

— To fine employers of illegal immigrants tens of thousands of dollars (71%).
